The sequel to "30 Days of Night," the Josh Hartnett-starring adaptation of Steve Niles' popular vampire comic book, has officially started production in Vancouver with a whole slew of casting just announced.

Bloody Disgusting has learned the identity of several actors joining the cast of "30 Days of Night: Dark Days," the direct-to-video sequel helmed by Ben Ketai. Most prominently among these new actors are "Lost" veterans Harold Perrineau and Kiele Sanchez, as well as "24" stars Mia Kirshner and Rhys Coiro.

While character names and descriptions are mostly under wraps, it appears that Kirshner will assume the role of Lillith, the lead vampire in the film.

"Dark Days" focuses on Stella Oleson, the wife of Hartnett's character originally played by Melissa George in "30 Days of Night." Stella enlists the aid of a group of vampire hunters to track down the vicious blood-suckers to Los Angeles, with her vengeful sights set specifically on Lillith.

At the recent Baltimore Comic-Con, creator Steve Niles shared his hopes that Melissa George would reprise her role for the sequel — but considering that filming is underway and George's name isn't listed amongst the cast, it's likely that the actress has parted ways with the comic book franchise.

Possible candidates to take over the role of Stella include the aforementioned Sanchez as well as two other new cast members: Diora Baird of "Night of the Demons" and Monique Ganderton, a prominent stunt double that's been featured in the "Underworld" series.

What do you think of the cast to "30 Days Of Night: Dark Days" thus far? Will Melissa George return, or do you think her role will be recast? Let us know in the comments section!
